Kimono, The traditional dress of Japan

The traditional dress of Japan is undoubtedly the kimono. It is the national dress of Japanese society, and in fact it is often used in important ceremonies such as the presentation of medals during the Olympic Games or other sporting events.

The kimono is the typical garment during the tea ceremony.

The kimono is the typical dress for solemn acts such as weddings, it is part of the traditional culture such as the tea ceremony or Japanese dance, or of the arts of the country such as the kabuki theater or the nō, and it is the dress used by priests Shintoists, Buddhist bonzes, geishas and rakugo interpreters among others. Although the use of Western-style clothing became widespread decades ago as in much of the world and the kimono has lost its position as an everyday dress except in the cases of people who wear it at work, the truth is that the use of this typical dress still enjoys good popularity.

The word "kimono" was originally used for all types of clothing. During the end of the Tokugawa ( bakufu ) military rule in the 19th century, a period known as bakumatsu , Western clothing amongother objects from the West arrived.
