Cloud server

 What is a cloud server?

A cloud server is a centralized, clusteredserver resource that is hosted and distributed over a network (usually the Internet) and can be accessed by multiple users when needed. Cloud servers can perform the same functions as a traditional physical server, providing processing, storage and application power.

Cloudservers can be anywhere in the world and provide services remotely through a cloud computing environment. In contrast, traditional dedicated server hardware is often configured locally for the exclusive use of an organization.

How does a cloud server work?

Cloud servers are made possible by virtualization. Management software called a hypervisor is installed on physical servers to connect and virtualize them: their combined resources are unlinked and pooled to create virtual servers. These virtual resources can be automated and distributed in the cloud for shared use within a single marketplace or across multiple marketplaces.

A common example of using a cloud server is using a public cloud for temporary, seasonal, or variable workloads that need to be scaled up quickly when the need arises.

In some cases, a cloud provider can also configure cloud servers as dedicated servers. In this configuration, sometimes called a bare metal server, the provider dedicates physical cloud servers to a customer who may have specific performance or storage requirements.

What is a VPS?

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtual partition within a physical server that allocates exclusive resources to each partition. These grant root access that allows you to install an operating system and work with a high degree of freedom.

VPS hosting is one of the most popular hosting services that you can choose for your website. It uses virtualization technology to provide you with dedicated (private) resources on a multi-user server.

It is a more secure and stable solution than shared hosting where you do not get dedicated server space. However, it is on a smaller scale and cheaper than renting a full server.

VPS hosting is generally chosen by website owners who have mid-level traffic that exceeds the limits of shared hosting plans but who do not yet need the resources of a dedicated server.

What is the best cloud server?

Both large and small businesses have multiple options at their disposal when choosing a suitable cloud server option. The best cloud servers are optimized for specific needs and budgets. What is good for a multinational may not be the best for a midsize company.

Cloud servers can be deployed in three main types of cloud:

·         Public cloud - Cloud servers are typically deployed through the public cloud. In this scenario, an external provider owns and manages the servers and other infrastructures, and provides its customers with access to IT services as needed.

·         Private cloud: a company can host its own cloud servers privately and maintain control of their management and maintenance. These server resources are not shared with other organizations, but because they are in the cloud, they allow remote access by any employee, usually through a company intranet or virtual private network (VPN).

Hybrid cloud - Public and private clouds can be combined with on-premises and off-premises cloud servers that work together. This hybrid cloud environment offers companies more options and flexibility to maintain control and security when needed. It also uses public clouds when there is a need to expand rapidly to meet peak demand.
